LT-RTSim-II [DT-0004]
The LT-RTSim-II is a realtime simulator for operating MATLAB/Simulink models in realtime.

The LT-RTSim-II has the I/O hardware below. Moreover, a block library that runs on Simulink is provided to use this I/O hardware.

LT-RTSim-View is software for monitoring and tuning parameters of Simulink models running on LT-RTSim-II and can be used during realtime simulation.

9. User applications on the host computer can be created without programming, from the LT-RTSim-Panel.
10. LT-RTSim-Lib contains libraries (MS VC++/MS VB-DLL) needed to control realtime models from the user program on the host computer. Using LT-RTSim-Lib, realtime models can be built into user applications. 
11. LT-RTSim-?U is stand-alone software.
It can be used to run simulations when not connected to the host computer. 
 
Overview
The LT-RTSim-II realtime simulator can run simulation models created on MATLAB/Simulink *1 from The MathWorks Inc. in realtime according to a specific step size.  Moreover, external inputs (A/D, DI, etc.) to the model and external outputs (D/A, DO, etc.) from the models are processed in realtime. 
It can be used for rapid prototyping *2 of controllers and controlling HILS *3. This not only shortens development time greatly but also enables a broader variation of model evaluations that can lead to original results. 
The procedure is as follows.
1. A simulation model is created on the host computer using Simulink. 
2. A C-code file of the model made with Simulink is created using RealTime-Workshop.
3. The LT-RTSim-View realtime simulator monitoring software is started up on the host computer.
4. The C-code file is downloaded from LT-RTSim-View to the realtime simulator and the realtime simulation is started. 
During the simulation, it is possible to scope, monitor variables and tune parameters.

In general, simulation models are composed of diverse elements (size and speed of the model) from large models that move comparatively slowly to comparatively small models that move extremely fast. The most important issue here is how to move the comparatively small models that move at extremely high speeds. 
Since realtime simulators have a limited processing capacity, processing for individual model parts is assigned according to step size so that each part can attain its required processing speed; slow and intermediate speed parts of the model are assigned to the LT-RTSim-II (Pentium M) and fast and super-fast parts are allotted to the accelerator (SH4A and FPGA). 
DSP Technology also customizes the software development environment to the hardware configuration.
